FRIDAY KHUTBA OF TOKYO CAMİİ “BARAKAH: DIVINE ABUNDANCE“

Honorable Muslims!
Our Lord Almighty (swt) states in the Holy Qur’an as follows: “And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth.”^[i]

The Prophet Muhammad (saw) warns us as follows: “The goods of this world are attractive and pleasant. Whoever owns a portion of them with peace of heart, his property gets barakah. But whoever desires such with heart full of greed, the barakah of his property disappears.”^[ii]

Dear Believers!
The verse and hadith I have recited reveal the secret of barakah for us: Faith, worships, good deeds, and good morals constitute the barakah of our life. The barakah of our heart is the Holy Qur’an. The barakah of our home is affection, love, and compassion. The barakah of our wealth is zakat, infaq, and sadaqah. The barakah of our business is honesty, the sweat of the brow, and halal earning. The barakah of our work is to work duly and diligently and to be selfless. The barakah of our knowledge is to apply our knowledge into our life and share it with others. The barakah of our time is to not waste it and rather use it by knowing its value. The barakah of our children is to raise them in such a way for them to be useful to Islam and humanity.

Dear Believers!
Then, let us turn toward our Lord (swt), Who placed barakah in the essence of all existence, through our servitude, worship, supplication, and prayers. Let us search for peace and happiness not in what is abundant in quantity but in what is available in barakah. Let us not forget that if we base our intention on the consent of al-Rahman, then He (swt), the Owner of Power, will open the doors of barakah for us.
