……日本の有力なる時事新報社は殉難将士の遺族のために全国より義金を募集した。この義金は明治十四年同社記者野田正太郎氏これを携へて土耳其国へ出張した。又東京に於て募集したる有志の義金は現日土貿易組合理事山田寅次郎氏亦之を携へ翌明治十五年我国へ渡航したのであつた。前記両氏は特に土耳其皇帝アブデュル・ハミット二世より拝謁を賜つた。次いで、土耳其国政府は両氏を招聘し、青年士官に日本語を教授せしめた。

In September’s Special Open Lecture, Ms. Tsukiko Watari, director of WATARI-UM The Watari Museum of Contemporary Art, who is currently holding the exhibition “The 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey (Turkiye) TORAJIRO YAMADA Art Director of Sultan Abdülhamid II” will give us a talk.
